The negotiations on accession of Azerbaijan to the WTO are being continued

The next phase of bilateral negotiations with Brasil, Ecuador, Indonesia on goods and with Norway and Japan on goods and services was held and also consultations with Accession, Trade in Services and Investments, Development, Rules, Market Access and Trade Policy Review Departments of WTO were conducted Geneva on 17-21 December, 2018. Informal consultations with the representatives of USA were conducted, as well.
During the negotiations the abovementioned Members underlined the liberalization within the latest offers and at the same time, they requested further liberalization for some product lines. At the same time, Azerbaijan mentioned that according to the requests of the Members the appropriate adjustments will be made on some relevant technical issues within offers and the revised offers will be sent as soon as possible.
In addition to these issues, consultations on subsidies, postal, audit, marine and energy insurance services, features of the application of Article VIII of the GATT, Preferential Trade Agreements within the WTO system, WTO Agreement on Trade-Related Investment Measures (TRIMS) and local context requirements were carried out between the delegation of Azerbaijan and the experts of the WTO Secretariat.
