The visit of the Chair of the Working Party on the Accession of Azerbaijan to Baku has ended

The Chair of the Working Party on the Accession of Azerbaijan, Ambassador Alparslan Acarsoy of Turkey, visited Baku on 27—28 April at the invitation of the Government of Azerbaijan. Accompanied by members of the WTO Secretariat, Ambassador Acarsoy held a series of high-level meetings to discuss the resumption of the activities of the Working Party and to take stock of recent accession-related developments in Azerbaijan.

Ambassador Acarsoy noted that Azerbaijan's accession negotiations had progressed well for many years but that momentum had been lost since the Working Party last met. “Interest by WTO members remains high. It is up to Azerbaijan to reactivate and accelerate the process,” he said.

During the meetings, Azerbaijan expressed interest in holding the 15th meeting of the Working Party before the summer break.
